Cancer Recovery & Survivorship Exercise

THRIVE

Move Gently. Grow Strong. Live Fully.

THRIVE is a cancer-informed exercise and movement program, originally developed in collaboration with the Baptist Cancer Network Southeast Texas Survivorship Program. It is designed to support you through treatment, recovery, and survivorship—whether we work together in person or remotely. The focus is simple: help you feel safer, stronger, and more at home in your body again.

Cancer-Informed Exercise • Education • Supportive Coaching
Serving survivors locally in Southeast Texas and via remote coaching wherever you live.
Start Where You Are

Who THRIVE Is For

THRIVE supports individuals in treatment, post-treatment recovery, or survivorship who are seeking safe, guided, restorative movement—whether in person or from home.

THRIVE May Be Right For You If:

  • You’re in treatment and need gentle, supervised movement.
  • You’re post-treatment and feel weak, stiff, or unsure where to start.
  • You’re a long-term survivor wanting confidence and strength again.
  • You want supportive coaching that understands cancer-related fatigue.
  • You want to rebuild your body safely and slowly.

You Don’t Need To:

  • Be in shape before coming.
  • Push through pain or hide how you feel.
  • Keep up with anyone else.
  • Know how to exercise; THRIVE meets you where you are.
  • Have all the answers; we’ll navigate it together.
Framework

The THRIVE Approach

THRIVE is built around three guiding principles that support healing and long-term strength.

Move

Gentle, progressive movement to rebuild strength, mobility, and balance at a pace that fits your body.

Restore

Breathing, mobility, and recovery work to ease tension, support energy, and help your nervous system settle.

Connect

Space to connect with your own story and others walking a similar path through supportive conversations and workshops—locally or online.

Program Formats

Ways to Participate

THRIVE blends 1:1 sessions, small groups, and educational workshops. Depending on your needs and location, you can participate in person (where facilities are available) or remotely from home.

1:1 Cancer-Informed Training

Personalized sessions tailored to your diagnosis, treatment stage, and comfort level. Available in person in Southeast Texas and via secure video sessions for those outside the area.

Small Group Exercise

Supportive, coach-led sessions with others who understand the cancer journey. Offered in select local settings and, when possible, through virtual small groups.

Workshops & Education

Sessions on topics like fatigue, balance, safe strength training, and movement for long-term survivorship—delivered online and, when possible, in partnership with local survivorship programs.

In-person options are currently based in Southeast Texas and may expand over time. Remote coaching is available regardless of location, subject to appropriate medical clearance.

Process

How THRIVE Works

A calm, step-by-step process designed to help you feel supported at every stage, whether we meet in the gym or online.

Step 1
Learn Your Story

We discuss your treatment history, side effects, fatigue levels, and daily experience.

Step 2
Safety & Clearance

We confirm any needed medical clearance and discuss boundaries around pain, ports, or lymphedema risk—wherever you are located.

Step 3
Personalized Plan

We choose the best mix of sessions and home movement depending on energy, goals, and whether you prefer in-person or remote support.

Step 4
Gentle Progress

We move at your pace, adjusting often based on how you feel and what life is giving you.

The goal isn’t intensity. It’s rebuilding confidence, strength, and ease, one session at a time.

FAQ

Common Questions

Do I need medical clearance?

Often yes, especially if you’re in treatment, have cardiac history, or recent surgery. We’ll help guide the process.

What if I’m very tired?

Then we adjust. Some days movement is restorative. You’re never expected to push past what feels right.

Is THRIVE only for active treatment?

No. THRIVE supports people in treatment, recently post-treatment, and long-term survivors.

Can caregivers participate?

In some settings, yes, especially workshops or supportive movement education.

Do you work with people outside Southeast Texas?

Yes. While in-person options are currently centered in Southeast Texas, remote coaching and education are available to survivors in other locations, as long as appropriate medical clearance is in place.

READY TO REBUILD YOUR STRENGTH AND CONFIDENCE?
